We brought new life to an old, dated kitchen.
Project Type: Kitchen Renovation | Location: Sherwood Park, AB | Project Size: 240 SQ. ft. | Cabinetry: Maple, in our Kirkness Door-style painted Summit
We updated the cabinetry, countertops and backsplash in this kitchen with a fresh grey and white palette and made room for an island. The previous layout and finishes left this large space feeling dark and dated. The challenge was to reconfigure the layout to incorporate an island and create better work flow.
Pre-Renovation, this kitchen had a peninsula with a raised eating bar that the homeowners felt was dated and didn’t offer the prep space they needed for cooking and entertaining. The kitchen is a large space and open to the family room, but the layout and tired palette made it feel dark and closed off.
We took out the peninsula and built a long narrow island to fit the new u-shape design. This created a nice prep space for cooking and the home owners now have better flow around the kitchen and into the adjacent family room. The cabinets were designed to incorporate a 36” cook top, double wall ovens and an integrated subzero refrigerator. Everything was updated in fresh grey and white finishes.
The result is a bright new space that is open and inviting for family and friends. Its now a space suited to enjoy entertaining and the day to day work that’s required in a kitchen space.
