Project Overview
These clients had been wanting to do a renovation for a long time but didn’t know where to start.
Project Type: Kitchen Renovation | Location: Camrose, AB | Project Size: 365 sq. ft. | Cabinetry: Maple in our Summerside Doorstyle, Painted Midnight and Painted Dawn with Grizzly Oak Accents
The flooring needed to be replaced, the cabinets were old and dated, and the great debate was on, do we or do we not paint out the wood ceiling! There were a few requests from the onset of the project:
- Maintain the ranch style and feel of the home.
- Work with the existing footprint of the kitchen. There is a hot water baseboard heater that runs along the back of the peninsula that would have been costly to relocate.
- The design needed to be creative and outside of the box. Our favourite kind of request!
The farmhouse oak flooring provides a complimentary ranch style to the existing window casings.
The back entry nook is converted into a functional storage space and feeding station for the dog.
Project Details
A wide plank farmhouse oak flooring was installed throughout the main floor. We selected a tone that matched the existing oak window casings and chose an oak finish that complimented for our cabinet accent pieces. The mix of 3 different cabinet finishes made for a unique combination that fits in with the homeowner’s ranch style.
Working within the existing footprint, we designed a cabinet layout that is both fresh and functional. The floating shelves provide an opportunity to display fun knickknacks and hold the families day to day dishes, and… we absolutely love the opportunity this provides for the full wall of subway tile and fun accent lighting! The large sink is unique and great for canning and washing up fresh produce from the garden. A custom range hood was designed and built onsite. The plank design is simple, but this piece truly becomes the focal point of the kitchen!

A large sink for a busy family!
To add to the overall ambience of this space, we designed a long and deep bench along the dining room wall. Offering a cozy and inviting place for kids to curl up with a book or craft at the table.
The back entry nook housed a small and unused sink counter. We converted it into functional locker storage that doubles as a feeding station for the family dog.
What a fantastic opportunity to work with such a great family on such a great project. We couldn’t be more pleased to share the results of this renovation!
